The name "Old Orchard Beach" evokes thoughts of a calm, quaint, beach nestled by an orchard. In reality, this beach is nothing like that! This place is just nuts...especially on a Saturday evening in summer! Dogs are allowed here after 5PM, despite the fact that people don't clear out in the evening like they do at some other beaches we frequent. The busy shopping area and amusement park add to the sheer chaos of the place. Since this was our second adventure of the day, we only covered a small section of the beach near the amusement park. Despite the crowds, it was a fun walk on a beautiful evening.

This was our second time at this beach, as we were here exactly a month prior. That day, was a Saturday evening in the middle of summer, and the beach was packed. Dogs are allowed in the evenings during the summer, but are allowed any time after Labor Day, so we took advantage of that fact on the return trip. It was much less busy this time around, and we were able to get some photos that we couldn't get the first time because there was too many people here. The dogs also got to play a bit since they are allowed off-leash in the off-season. I love the photos of Lexi flying through the air! This was part of a long, seven mile walk, that also included Pine Point Beach in Scarborough and Surfside Beach as well. We actually drove back here after completing our beach walk, and grabbed a bite and took a few more pictures on the strip before heading home after a long, fun day.

We parked near here for our visit to Old Orchard Beach. We stopped to take one photo on our way back to the car.

We were walking the Saco beach front at low tide. We were able to easily cross the small stream that separates Saco from Old Orchard Beach. We could immediately see more people on the Old Orchard Beach side, as it's more of a tourist town than Saco. Dogs are only allowed on the beach in this town from 6 to 9 AM, and from 5 PM to dusk, so we didn't walk too far along the beach before turning around and heading back to Saco.

This is the beach area just south of Pine Point Beach in Scarborough. We walked through here and over to the main tourist beach. Dogs are allowed any time in the off-season, and can even be off-leash. Mandy and Lexi ran around quite a bit, and enjoyed playing with each other on the beach here!
