This is a public beach with very limited parking. We of course, had no issue finding a spot in February. Dogs are allowed on Sandwich Town Beaches from September 16th through March 31st. There are private property signs to the east, though maps seem to indicate that area as still part of the public beach. At any rate, we headed west. According to the maps, it looks like the public beach ends quickly, and the next area is called Springhill Beach.

This is a continuation of our walk started at East Sandwich Beach. I did not see any "No Trespassing", or "Private Property" signs so we continued along this beach for about two miles until we reached Springhill Brook. Across the brook is Town Neck Beach & Boardwalk, but we couldn't get there unless we wanted to walk through the water, and it was way too cold for that, so we turned around and headed back. The part of the beach in front of the houses is divided into sections, with rows or rocks that jet out into the water serving as dividers. Reviews indicated that waves are mild here, but on this day the waves were strong. This was a pleasant, scenic walk on a bright, but chilly February day.

This beach is part of Scusset Beach State Reservation, and covers the small wedge of Sandwich from the mouth of the Cape Cod Canal to the town line at Sagamore Beach in Bourne. Parking is free in the off-season, but the signs indicated that the gates to the lots would close at 4PM sharp. The reservation includes a fishing pier, some trails, and also the start of the Cape Cod Canal Bikeway. We pretty much just walked the beach. It is two miles from the mouth of the canal to the Bourne Town Line. We walked the entire length, and also about another half mile in Bourne as well before turning around and heading back. The walk was easier heading back. The wind was at our back and the tides had receded somewhat so the sand near the shore was more firm. It was a bright sunny day, around 50 degrees with a breeze. It was a pretty nice day for a good walk on the beach!

This was our starting point for our 4.5 mile walk along the Sandwich shore. From the parking lot, we made our way to the beach. The path goes over a steep sand wall. We headed southeast along the beach until we hit Spring Hill Brook. Across the brook is Springhill Beach, where we visited a couple weeks prior. We walked along the back side of the little cove to the boardwalk. After the boardwalk, we headed back to the beach and walked the other direction toward the canal. On our walk back from the canal, we walked along the top of the sand wall, instead of trying to make our way up and down the steep hill. Despite the lack of any waves, the beach was beautiful and this was a very fun walk.

This is 1350 foot wooden boardwalk, over a creek, leading to Town Neck Beach. A storm demolished a good portion of the boardwalk in January 2022. The boardwalk was rebuilt and re-opened for the summer of 2024. We parked at the beach end, but still walked the boardwalk in both directions. Dogs are only allowed on the boardwalk from September 16 through March 30th.

This is the town beach between Town Neck Beach and the Cape Cod Canal. We passed through on our adventure as we were headed to the canal from Town Neck Beach and the boardwalk. Waves are super mild here, but the water was still too cold for the dogs to go in it.

This is a park area along the southern mouth of the Cape Cod Canal. It has it's own parking lot and facilities, but we arrived here via walking along the town beaches. In addition to benches, and a pavilion, there are a few short trails through the woods here as well. There are really nice views of the canal from here. It is a good spot to just relax and enjoy the day, especially when it is a day as nice as this one!
