This is a park facing Barnegat Bay on the west side of Long Beach Island in the small borough of Harvey Cedars. It's a nice park with great views of the bay. We parked here, walked around the park, and then headed across the island to the ocean side beach. The island is less than a quarter mile wide at this point, so it wasn't a long walk to reach the beach. The only caveat here is that while there is a crosswalk at the Long Beach Boulevard crossing, there is no signal, and cars zip by, so caution crossing the street is recommended.

We parked at Sunset Park and walked the entire ocean facing beach in Harvey Cedars. Leashed dogs are allowed on the beach from September 16th through May 29th, so it was the first day of dog season on the beach. The entire shore line in town is only a bit over two miles long. There are beach access points at the end of all of the streets. Google Maps displays different names for each access point. For instance, we entered at the "Hudson Surfing Beach", while other names include "Bergen Beach", "Cumberland Avenue Beach", "Atlantic Avenue Beach", "Middlesex Beach", "69th Street Beach", "Nuns Beach", etc. I grouped them all together for this page. The beach featured fine, soft white sand and good waves. We had to be careful, because jellyfish washed up, and can still sting even when washed up on the sand. It was a warm day, but there was a nice breeze on the beach. The water was warm, and the beach wasn't very busy because it was a Wednesday afternoon. Just before 3PM, a bunch of kids hit the surfing area right after school let out. We also wound up crossing into Long Beach on both the north and the south end of our walk (that town has different non-contiguous segments). We wound up walking just over five miles total on a beautiful late summer afternoon on the Jersey Shore.
